Fecal Calprotectin Test
Fecal calprotectin test is a simple non-invasive testthat can be used to distinguish between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or irritable bowel syndrome and to monitor IBD. This service is now available* at the S.H. Ho Centre for Digestive Health.
*Doctor's referral is required.
Colorectal Cancer Surveillance
Patients with IBD have an increased incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) when compared to the general population. Our team collaborates with The University of Melbourne to initiate ASSURANCE (Surveillance for Neoplasia in Inflammatory Bowel Disease) in Hong Kong. The key aim of the program is for doctors to manage their inflammatory bowel disease patients effectively. This program is now rolling out to other hospital in Hong Kong.
Joint Medical & Surgical IBD Clinic
A multidisciplinary team comprise of gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, pathologist and radiologist is important to provide the best practice to manage IBD by defining a realistic diagnostic and therapeutic pathway. A joint IBD clinic, where patient are jointly seen by gastroenterologists and colorectal surgeons is now set up.
